A. Dean Betts, Jr., Esquire is the lead counsel for the Domestic Relations Department at Tunnell and Raysor, P.A. Dean is a Sussex County native, born and raised in Seaford, Delaware, and the youngest of six children. He graduated from Seaford Senior High school (1983) and attended college at Virginia Tech earning a Bachelor of Arts degree (1987). Thereafter, he attended the University of Maryland School of Law and received his Juris Doctor degree with honors (1990), and was admitted to the Delaware Bar (1990).
Dean served as a judicial law clerk for the Superior Court of the State of Delaware in and for Sussex County and then became a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Delaware in October 1991. Dean served both as a civil Deputy Attorney General, representing state departments, boards, and agencies, and as a criminal Deputy Attorney General, prosecuting criminal cases in all the Delaware trial courts. In 1997, Dean joined the law firm of Betts & Beauregard, P.A. in Georgetown, Delaware, a firm established by his father and law partner, A. Dean Betts, Sr., Esquire, in 1953. Upon the investiture of Dean's sister, the Honorable Rosemary Betts Beauregard, to the bench of the Court of Common Pleas in 1999, Dean became the managing partner of the firm which became known as Betts & Betts, P.A. Subsequent to his father's death in 2003, the firm became known as The Betts Law Firm, P.A. In 2015, Dean was proud to become part of the Tunnell & Raysor, P.A. family.
Dean lives in Lewes, Delaware, with his wife, April Collins Betts, Esquire, and their two daughters, Madeline Jo and Abigail Rose Betts.
