A. J. Balbo's practice focuses exclusively on the area of Criminal Defense. Mr. Balbo handles felonies and misdemeanors in Federal, State, and Military Courts. He has defended clients charged with Murder, Rape, Sexual Assault, Drug Distribution, Molestation, Child Pornography, White Collar Fraud, Driving Under the Influence (DUI), and Domestic Violence. Several of his cases have garnered national medial attention, including federal death penalty and hate crimes cases. He has also defended a person accused of Impeding Congress and Seditious Conspiracy on January 6, 2021 at the U.S. Captiol. He is certified in the mentods of Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and was the first attorney in Georgia to voluntarily install a Smart Start Ignition Interlock Device into his vehicle to learn about its use firsthand. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mr. Balbo attended Duquesne University and Fordham University School of Law. He entered the Army's Judge Advocate General's Corp and was an Honor Graduate of the 157th JAG Basic Course. After being assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia, Mr. Balbo deployed first to Kuwait before "crossing the berm" into Iraq in March 2003 with Operation Iraqi Freedom, earning a Bronze Star. Upon his return to the United States, Mr. Balbo continued to act as a military prosecutor until leaving the service in 2006. While in uniform, Mr. Balbo prosecuted a high-profile desertion case, arguing against former Attorney General of the United States Ramsey Clark.

Mr. Balbo has presented courses on the Servicemember's Civil Relief Act on behalf of the American Bar Association and on Federal and State Law on behalf of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has been selected Bryan County's Favorite Lawyer multiple times.
