Michael P. Kella

Mike Kella is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Practice Group, where he focuses his practice on the areas of patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secrets litigation. He has experience litigating cases involving a wide range of technologies in federal courts throughout the country and before the International Trade Commission. Some of these technologies include computer software, operating systems, networking, videoconferencing, automotive, power management, e-commerce, and flash memory technologies.

Mike earned a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in Computer Engineering from the University of Missouri – Columbia and received his law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law. Before law school, Mike gained experience developing software at a Fortune 50 telecommunications company and at one of the largest privately held companies in the automotive industry.

In law school, Mike served as Lead Articles Editor for the Saint Louis University Public Law Review and as a judicial extern to the Honorable G. Patrick Murphy for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. He also participated in Moot Court and Trial Advocacy. For his publication in the Public Law Review, Mike was awarded first prize for Saint Louis University School of Law in the Nathan Burkan Memorial Competition sponsored by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.

Mike is a member of the State Bar of Missouri and State Bar of Illinois and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Missouri, Eastern District of Texas, Southern District of Illinois, Northern District of Illinois, and the International Trade Commission.

He is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan Saint Louis, the American Bar Association, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, and the American Inns of Court.
