Michael R. Jones

Michael R. Jones was born in 1970 and raised in Defiance, Ohio. Michael graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1993 with a B. A. He received his juris doctor from The University of Toledo College of Law in 1996.

Michael moved to Santa Fe after working at the Philmont Scout Ranch in 1996. He clerked for Justice Patricio Serna at the New Mexico Supreme Court after graduating from law school. Michael has had a variety of legal work experience working with the First and Eleventh District Attorneys’ offices as an assistant district attorney, the New Mexico State Senate as an analyst, the New Mexico Attorney General’s office and in private practice. Michael R. Jones and Thomas M. Clark started the firm together in 2005. Michael is a partner with Clark & Jones, Attorneys at Law, LLC.

During Michael’s career, he has defended and prosecuted all types of criminal cases from misdemeanor shoplifting to murder. Michael has also represented people and entities as varied as corporations to land grants in civil disputes. Currently Michael primarily defends clients charged with criminal offenses including but not limited to DWI, drug trafficking and possession, sexual offenses, murder, domestic violence offenses, assaults and batteries, and driver license and game and fish license revocations. In the civil realm Michael represents people injured or killed in all types of accidents, by medical malpractice or by civil rights violations. In addition, Michael assists people with will and probate issues.

Ensuring the best results for his clients through adverse situations is Michael’s goal in every case. Michael has represented numerous clients over the years in difficult and notable criminal and civil cases. Michael represents his clients zealously and is known for his hard work, respectful manner, consideration for his clients and truthfulness. Michael has been recognized by his peers with an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating a lawyer can receive.

Michael practices exclusively in New Mexico. He is a member of the New Mexico State Bar, the First Judicial District Bar Association, the United States District Court for the State of New Mexico and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a member of the Oliver Seth American Inn of Court.
