Michael Wise

Michael Wise is an attorney in Knight Nicastro MacKay's Kansas City office focused on civil defense litigation. Michael primarily practices in the areas of FELA transportation law, insurance defense, and breach of contract business litigation. Specifically, he defends railroad cases related to the Federal Employer's Liability Act, the Safety Appliance Act, the Locomotive Inspection Act, and other regulatory laws regarding primarily occupational exposure/toxic tort matters, worker on-the-job injuries, and grade crossing incidents. Michael also represents clients involved in auto accident cases, including trucking cases involving Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. He also advises and represents clients business contract dispute litigation related to the heavy haul trucking industry.

Prior to joining the team at Knight Nicastro MacKay, Michael worked for a plaintiff’s civil litigation firm on Fair Labor Standards Act litigation regarding wage-and-hour and contractor classification issues, and clerked for the Third Judicial District Court in Shawnee County Kansas. Michael is actively involved in several professional organizations include the Earl E. O’Connor Inn of Court and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. He gives back to his community by supporting and fundraising for the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and U.S. National Park Foundation.
