Mike Morenilla

Defense Attorney - Michael Morenilla of Crumbley-Blackwell & Associates, P.C. moved to Huntsville, AL with his family at the age of 8. He attended Mt. Gap elementary and middle schools and graduated from Grissom High School in 1998. Mr. Morenilla attended the University of Florida where he was a member of the Sigma Nu and Alpha Kappa Psi fraternities, and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2009. While at Bama Law, Mr. Morenilla was selected to the Trial Advocacy Competition Class and served as a Justice of the campus-wide Student Judiciary Board.

Mr. Morenilla developed a passion for criminal law his first year of law school and obtained employment with the Madison County District Attorney’s Office and the Delaware Department of Justice during his tenure at Bama. Upon graduating, he was hired by the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, where he remained for three years. Being a prosecutor afforded Mr. Morenilla the opportunity to gain tremendous trial experience and learn from some of the best trial lawyers in the state.

After leaving the DA’s office in 2012, Mr. Morenilla worked in the field of toxic tort defense in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he supplemented his trial expertise with experience in motion practice and civil procedure.

Mr. Morenilla returned home to Huntsville in 2013 to resume his passion for criminal law, this time as a criminal defense attorney. Mr. Morenilla practiced as a successful solo-attorney until October 2016, when Russell Crumbley noticed his abilities and experience and brought him aboard to be part of an expanding firm.
