Jim Crews was born in Memphis, Tennessee and has lived in Mississippi for most of his life. He received his undergraduate degree in English in 1985 and his Juris Doctorate degree in 1992, both from the University of Mississippi.
Having practiced law for more than twenty-five years, Jim has developed several areas of special emphasis. He has extensive experience in real estate transactions and litigation. His practice also extends to estate planning (wills, powers of attorney and advance healthcare directives) and administration of estates in Chancery Court. Jim also represents many clients in family law matters such as divorce, child custody, support, guardianships and conservatorships He has assisted many business owners in forming and operating corporations and limited liability companies. He has also successfully represented a number of clients in their claims for personal injuries and wrongful death. Jim has also appeared before the Mississippi Supreme Court and Mississippi Court of Appeals on multiple occasions.
Jim is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association and is licensed to practice law in all State and Federal Courts in Mississippi, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He has also made numerous appearances on behalf of clients before the Mississippi Public Service Commission and other administrative agencies.
Jim has a strong record of community service. He served on the Board of Directors of Canton Academy, where he was President for two years. He has been a member of the Canton Rotary Club for many years and served as President for the 2017-208 term. He has also served on the Board of the Canton, Mississippi Chamber of Commerce, and the Madison County Committees for Ducks Unlimited and the National Wild Turkey Federation.
