      Biography

      Paul T. McBride is an Of Counsel with Kring & Chung. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Cornell Law School. He served as a judge advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1983 to 1993. As a military attorney, Mr. McBride gained extensive trial experience, serving as both a prosecuting attorney and a defense counsel at three Marine Corps installations. He tried over 400 criminal cases at court-martial, including a high profile death penalty case and two espionage cases. Mr. McBride remained in the Marine Corps Reserves after leaving active service and was twice called back to active duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He retired as a lieutenant colonel in 2011.

      Since 1993, Mr. McBride has practiced civil litigation in California. He was formerly a partner at Borton, Petrini & Conron in Newport Beach, where he specialized in the defense of personal injury and construction defect claims. He joined Kring & Chung in 1998. In his current practice, Mr. McBride concentrates primarily on construction litigation and general business litigation. He serves as general counsel for a number of Northern California and Northern Nevada subcontractors. He has handled and resolved hundreds of construction defect lawsuits. Mr. McBride has represented every building trade from grading through roofing. His most recent trial was in defense of a stucco subcontractor facing a $3,000,000 claim in a construction defect action in Phoenix, Arizona. A six-day jury trial resulted in a defense verdict for Mr. McBride's client.

      Mr. McBride gained admission to the Nevada bar in 2009. He has defended several subcontractors in construction defect lawsuits in Washoe County (Reno), and has also represented clients before the Nevada State Contractor’s Licensing Board. He also served as lead defense counsel on a severe personal injury case in Clark County (Las Vegas) in 2014 that eventually resolved for over $25,000,000. He currently handles cases in both Washoe County and Clark County. In addition, he is admitted to the bar of the State of Washington.

      Mr. McBride is the author of "Court of Appeals Ruling Threatens Affordable Housing," published in the Daily Journal in 2001. The article is a critique of the Presley Homes insurance coverage decision. In addition, Mr. McBride has written several articles for Kring & Chung's client newsletter, on topics ranging from mold evidence to insurance coverage. Mr. McBride takes an active role in CALPASC, the trade association of California subcontractors. Mr. McBride is married to Dr. Gabrielle Stryker, a professor of biology. He has two children, Sean and Maureen.
