I am one among the few Attorneys with an MD. I live professionally at the intersection of law and medicine. My training and experience in various Psychiatry settings, and my 15 years of running a Rehab Clinic, gives me a unique and distinct broad understanding of the human mind and the various Neuo-Endocrine and Psycho-social factors that affect human behavior. Not only can I understand Med-Legal Issues from the Medical Clinician’s perspective, and the Attorney’s perspective, but I can also understand it from the client’s perspective. I have also helped people from wanting to commit suicide.
In 2012, my aunt and uncle were in a severe head-on collision in my home town. I lost my aunt, and so I had to move back to my home town to help in taking care of my uncle, who suffered severe brain (TBI) and physical injuries. Along with my family, including my father who is a Physical Therapist, we took care of my uncle, 24hrs a day for 7 years at our home till his death. Thus, I know first-hand, the toll it takes on care-takers and family members. I understand injured clients' physical & emotional anguish, changed behavior and other medical needs. I also know how to communicate and help injured clients be comfortable for better intakes and other trial procedures.
I facilitate Attorneys for Case Evaluations to spot Med-Legal Issues. I also help Attorneys for both their own and opposing party’s Medical Experts’ deposition and cross exams. I help my clients with tough contract and conflict negotiations. I assist and train my clients to negotiate by empathizing and understanding all sides, including their own, and understanding when to walk away and when to press on.
As a Co-Counsel, I work with other Attorneys on various Medical Legal cases such as Personal Injury, Med Mal, Wrongful Death and Product Liability from intake to discovery and to trial. I also help Attorneys understand jurors, including their behavior and how to analyze their responses.
