He earned his bachelor's degree in Sociology , graduating magna cum laude, with honors, from Kennesaw State University while completing the Honor's program. John graduated from Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law in 2012. While in law school, John worked in the felony narcotics division of the Macon Judicial Circuit Public Defender's office where he gained invaluable courtroom experience representing those charged with serious crimes.
John is a determined and zealous advocate for clients inside and outside of the courtroom. As a trial lawyer, John devotes 100% of his practice to representing those with personal injuries caused by the negligence of others or those who are injured while working on the job. John has long known that he wanted to represent and help people, not corporations. Prior to attending law school, John worked a variety of jobs from construction to foodservice to social work. These experiences led John to commit to a life of serving others in the law.
John is admitted to practice law in the State of Georgia, Georgia Court of Appeals, Georgia Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Having spent his working life in service to others, John understands the helpfulness and dedication that clients deserve when they hire an attorney. John is particularly thorough and diligent in preparing each of his cases for trial and works to obtain the maximum value of every case. In the first three of practicing law, John Mays has already tried several cases to verdict, including two verdicts of significance: an excess jury verdict and a bad faith judgment against an insurance company.
John and his wife, the former Danielle Britt of Buford, Georgia, live in Atlanta with their three dogs, Bitsy, Braxton, and Darla.
