      Biography

John Stobierski is a fourth generation resident of Franklin County. He has practiced law in Greenfield for over 22 years and is the senior partner of one of the county’s largest law firms. John has established himself as one of the premiere litigators in Western Massachusetts. In October of 2007, he won the largest jury verdict in the history of Franklin and Hampshire Counties. After a three week trial, a jury awarded 3 million dollars in a gas explosion case which he later settled for 5.25 million dollars.

Since 2002 Attorney Stobierski has been the leading advocate for the victims of clergy sex abuse in Western Massachusetts. He has successfully litigated and negotiated over 80 cases resulting in settlements in excess of 10 million dollars. Attorney Stobierski has also handled hundreds of automobile accident cases ranging from death and catastrophic injuries to minor motor vehicle accidents. He also has litigated serious malpractice injuries resulting in substantial settlements. In the last 22 years, Attorney Stobierski has likewise been handling workers compensation cases attempting to get injured workers the proper benefits. He also serves as general counsel to Deerfield Academy and Eaglebrook School.

Attorney Stobierski graduated from Deerfield Academy in 1978 and double majored in economics and political science at Drew University where he became a Harry S. Truman scholar. In 1986 he graduated from Suffolk University Law School, where he was a member of the National Trial Team and was elected nationally by his fellow law students as one of two law students to the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates. In 1986, he opened a general practice in Greenfield, Massachusetts and in 1990 he formed the firm of Stobierski & Stobierski with his wife, Pamela.

Since 1990, Attorney Stobierski has concentrated in personal injury litigation and has earned a reputation for achieving superior results in complex and in sometimes groundbreaking, precedent setting matters.

Attorney Stobierski has also been involved in numerous community and public service activities. He has served on Deerfield’s Finance Committee since 2004. He was elected to two terms as a Franklin County Commissioner in the 1990’s. He is a former Chair of the Franklin County Democrats and current Chair of the Deerfield Democratic Town Committee. Since 1996 he has served as a governor of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers. Attorney Stobierski is an avid downhill skier and an alpine race coach for Eaglebrook School. He has coached Pop Warner Football, Little League Baseball and soccer in Deerfield. John enjoys traveling and is a voracious New England sports fan, especially of the Red Sox.
