Kara Moreau joins Jacobs & Dow, LLC after spending six years at a criminal defense boutique firm whose members generally provided court-appointed representation to clients who could not afford private counsel. Kara dedicated the majority of her practice to helping indigent clients charged with federal and state crimes, including serious felonies. She has represented numerous defendants before the state and federal criminal courts of Connecticut, and has tried a number of cases to verdict as associate counsel, including drug and murder cases. She also handles post-conviction cases, including habeas corpus and criminal appeals. At Jacobs & Dow she will continue to represent persons accused of crime. Because Jacobs & Dow has a broad based criminal practice including representation of clients on a retained basis, Kara anticipates participating in the full scope of the firm's work, including white-collar matters, as well as related civil litigation.
Kara grew up in Rhode Island and received her undergraduate degrees with honors from Roger Williams University (B.A./B.S., 2013). She completed her legal education at Quinnipiac University School of Law, graduating third in her class. While in law school, Kara served as President of the Mock Trial Society, Lead Articles Editor of the Quinnipiac Law Review, and worked in the Civil Justice Clinic where she represented low-income individuals in civil matters.
Kara currently coaches a Mock Trial Team at Quinnipiac University School of Law. She is also a board member of CT Star, a non-profit organization created to provide financial support for Support Court, a program developed by the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut to aid defendants who struggle with drug and alcohol addiction.
Kara resides in West Haven with her husband, their dog, and three cats.
