      Biography

Scott Love concentrates his practice in the areas of products liability, personal injury, wrongful death, mass tort litigation and class action litigation. Over the course of his career, Scott has distinguished himself as one of the leading mass tort and trial lawyers in the country. Currently, Scott is one of only a handful of lawyers in the United States to obtain multiple verdicts in pharmaceutical and medical device cases.

In addition to his active trial practice, Scott has been selected to leadership roles in numerous consumer class actions and mass tort cases, including, insurance cases, oil & gas cases and various pharmaceutical cases such as Trasylol, Paxil, Accutane, Topamax, Zoloft, and Transvaginal Mesh.

Scott was recently appointed as national counsel on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee for the Transvaginal Mesh federal Multi-District litigation pending in West Virginia by the Honorable Judge Goodwin. Scott currently serves on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee for the following MDLs:

Pelvic Repair System Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2326Scott was also one of the leading attorneys in the national Trasylol litigation which was transferred to the Southern District of Florida. Scott was honored with the appointment of co-lead counsel of the Plaintiff's Steering Committee by the Honorable Donald Middlebrooks in May 2008. As co-lead counsel of the PSC, Scott was responsible for coordinating the overall litigation strategy which has successfully resulted in the settlement of all of the cases pending across the country.

As a trial lawyer, Scott's accomplishments speak for themselves: Most recently, Scott obtained a verdict as lead counsel on behalf of four clients who suffered injuries as a result of the Obtryx Sling System. The Obtryx sling is a device manufactured by Boston Scientific Corp. for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence. This is the largest compensatory verdict against any mesh manufacturer for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence. (Blankenship et al v. Boston Scientific Corp., WV, MDL 2326).

As lead counsel in the first Topamax birth defect case to be tried in the country, Scott obtained a verdict (Czimmer v. Janssen, Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas). After hearing the evidence in the Czimmer case, the jury deliberated for less than 40 minutes before returning their verdict. This was followed three weeks later with a verdict in the second Topamax birth defect case. (Powell v. Janssen, Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas). One week into the third trial, Janssen settled all of his firm's Topamax birth defect cases. (Brown v. Janssen, Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas). Topamax is a medication used to treat migraines and epilepsy. It has long been recognized by Janssen that Topamax could cause a wide variety of birth defects. Even though the company knew about these side effects, they failed to warn physicians and patients until the FDA forced them to change their label in 2011.

Scott, along with two colleagues, obtained a verdict in the case of Kilker v. GSK, tried in Philadelphia, PA (October 2009) for injuries sustained by their minor client in the Paxil Birth Defect Litigation.

In addition to his active trial practice, Scott regularly speaks on topics involving litigation and trial strategies and trends, including topics such as:
