After serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War Ken attended the United States Air Force Academy, and completed his undergraduate studies majoring in history. He moved back East, married, and then began legal studies at Western New England University School of Law in Springfield, Mass. graduating in the top 10% of his class in 1976. After graduation he returned to WNEU law school as an adjunct professor, where he taught classes in consumer and trade regulation law.
Ken was admitted to the Mass. Bar in 1977 and worked for the Hamden County District Attorney’s Office, then the Mass. Office of the Attorney General. In 1981 he was admitted to the Bar of State of Connecticut and took a position as general counsel for a land development company, eventually becoming its executive vice-president. In 1989 Ken took the New York bar and was also admitted to practice law in NY. He then returned to private practice as managing partner of Dice, Maloney & Lenz in Danbury and Cheshire until 1995, when he formed his own law firm with his practice concentrated in bankruptcy and civil litigation on behalf of consumers. He joined Russell Small’s law firm in 2019, where he serves of counsel to the firm.
Ken is Board-Certified in Consumer Bankruptcy Law, and is active in the Conn. Bar Association’s bankruptcy and commercial law section, and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy. He has appeared on numerous legal education panels on bankruptcy subjects before attorneys and judges.
Outside of his law practice Ken is active in his community having served on the Board of Selectmen, and volunteered in the Orange Soccer Association, the Orange Players and the Orange Lions Club in various leadership capacities. He has two children, one of whom is an attorney and the other a doctor, and four grandchildren.
