      Biography

      In 1989, Gregory Sheindlin began his career as a prosecutor in Manhattan. He worked in the Trial Division prosecuting violent and white collar crimes and later in the Investigation Division prosecuting international organized crime involved in narcotics manufacturing, distribution and money laundering. In 1994, Gregory Sheindlin became trial counsel for Chubb insurance company. He handled general liability cases involving motor vehicles, construction, residential and commercial properties, elevators, public transportation, products liability, medical negligence, dog bites, property damage and insurance coverage. He also handled director and officer liability cases involving discrimination, harassment, fraud, contract breaches and fiduciary duty violations.

      From 1998 through the present, Gregory Sheindlin has been in private practice. He represents clients with claims arising out of serious personal injuries, wrongful death, construction incidents, civil rights' violations, criminal matters and other areas. (See Practice Areas)

      From 2016 through the present date, Gregory Sheindlin has been on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.

      From 2017 through the present date, Gregory Sheindlin has been on the Board of Directors for The Phoenix. The Phoenix has provided assistance in the form of a sober active community to more than 26,000 people who are recovering from substance abuse disorder.       In 2008, Gregory Sheindlin volunteered for Lawyers Without Borders to be an independent legal observer for the "Caprivi trial" in the country of Namibia (Located on Africa's west coast). The Caprivi trial involved approximately 200 defendants being prosecuted for high treason and murder based on their alleged attempt to create an independent country in the Caprivi region. It is the longest criminal trial in history, spanning over fifteen (15) years. In Namibia, Mr. Sheindlin also worked with the Bernard Nordkamp Centre involved with educating and caring for Namibian children. Through the present date, Mr. Sheindlin is on the Board of Directors for Kids in Namibia Deserve Love and Encouragement (KINDLE). Gregory Sheindlin has studied martial arts for over twenty years.

      In 2002, he was awarded the rank of san dan (2nd degree black belt) in Seido Karate. He continues training in several disciplines through the present date. For approximately five years, Mr. Sheindlin was a volunteer instructor at Young Adult Institute (YAI) in Manhattan teaching martial arts to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

      Gregory Sheindlin lives in New York City with his wife and children.
