      Biography

      Tom Cloutier is principally responsible for the day-to-day operations of the title company associated with the firm, First Title of Maine.

      In that capacity he is responsible for compliance with secondary lending market requirements, reviewing title examinations, and maintaining the escrow accounts associated with the title company. Tom is a title insurance agent for Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company.

      In twenty-five years of practice, Tom has closed thousands of consumer transactions for area lenders, homeowners and consumers.

      Tom is a graduate of Cheverus High School and Bates College, where he filled his spare time as a member or the cross-country, indoor and outdoor track teams.

      After college, Tom served a two year stint as a Peace Corps volunteer in Zaire, Africa. While in Africa, Tom taught English to middle and high school students, as well as to students at the nearby seminary.

      The first year of law school was completed at Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa. Tom transferred to Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts to complete his legal studies.

      Tom and his wife, Lisa J. Friedlander, Esq., now live in Portland and have two daughters.
