Biography
Travis Newton is originally from Clemson, South Carolina. Travis was raised in both Clemson and Anderson and is a graduate of Clemson University where he majored in Psychology. Travis began work for a Fortune 500 logistics and transportation company one week after graduating from Clemson. Travis was promoted three times in three years before resigning to accept an academic scholarship to continue his education in the Appalachian Mountains of Southwest Virginia.
Appalachian School of Law is described as a rigorous program for the professional training of lawyers that emphasizes professional responsibility and practice skills for becoming a successful and ethical lawyer. Travis is a founding member of The Appalachian School of Law Christian Legal Society and was a law student extern for the 8th Circuit Public Defender's Office (2005) under the direction of Criminal Defense Attorneys Charles Grose and Rauch Wise. Travis was admitted to the South Carolina State Bar in 2006.
Travis Newton's career as a lawyer began as an Associate Attorney at The Cogdill Law Firm of Greenville before opening Travis A. Newton Law P.A. in his hometown of Anderson. Attorney Chris Cogdill has served as an important advisor and mentor for Travis Newton throughout his legal career. Travis has presented oral arguments before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and is approved by the South Carolina Supreme Court Commission on CLE to teach a continuing legal education class called Winning DUI Cases. Travis is a founding member of the American Association of Premiere DUI Attorneys and is Lead Counsel rated by Thomson Reuters. Travis A. Newton Law P.A. has defended thousands of clients in South Carolina Summary and General Sessions Courts.
