Cook was born in Beaumont, Texas. He graduated from Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia’s Honors College, then earned his Master’s degree from St. John’s College in Maryland. Soon after graduating from St. John’s College, he took up law at the University of Texas School of Law. After graduating from law school, Cook moved to Houston, Texas where he began his legal career as a defense lawyer for a commercial litigation and civil defense firm. After almost four years of representing corporations, he realized that he was meant to do other things.
