Andy is the founding and senior litigating partner of Siegel & Coonerty, LLP. He litigates a wide range of serious bodily injury matters but has a compassionate interest in representing survivors of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Andy recognizes that "fair compensation" for the unquantifiable losses brought about by brain injury can never truly be achieved. Even the $43,000,000 a jury awarded one of his TBI clients for her conscious pain and suffering cannot tell the entire story.
Committed to his causes, Andy is on the Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, as well as the Brain Injury Association of New York State. His many trial successes have regularly placed those outcomes among the "Top 100 Verdicts" reported in New York State annually. Andy has been honored as a Super Lawyer selection continuously since 2010, which represents the top 5 percent of lawyers in the specialty of personal injury.
Andy grew up on Long Island and his athletic passion in high school was lacrosse where he was his team's Most Valuable Player. He attended Tulane University in New Orleans and a high point there was when his Green Wave team won the Southwest Championship of Lacrosse beating Texas A&M in an exciting come-from-behind victory.
The next stop was Brooklyn Law School. During his studies, he worked at a medical malpractice defense firm. There, he quickly realized that defending doctors and hospitals when, too often, there was no defense, offended his sense of justice.
After graduating, he made the decision to commit himself to working for the victims, who through no fault of their own find their lives tragically changed in the blink of an eye by an act of negligence.
Andy litigated his first jury trial the day after he was admitted to the bar and has been in the courtroom ever since. He has litigated to jury verdict in multiple cases in his devoted and passionate manner, successfully receiving large jury awards for the life-changing injuries suffered by his clients. He understands that to be a successful litigator, each trial requires the full devotion of his time and of his dedication of emotions to the client. It has been this formula, together with his passion for all things medical, that has made him such a courtroom success with over $80,000,000 in jury verdicts.
Many of Andy's courtroom clashes involve compassionately representing courageous survivors of traumatic brain injury on whose behalf he refuses to give up until achieving an outcome fully satisfying to his sense of justice. His trial successes have regularly placed those outcomes among the "Top 100 Verdicts" reported in the state annually. He's on the Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, whose mission is "To promote a safer and healthier society, to assure access to the civil justice system by those who are wrongfully injured, and to advance representation of the public by ethical, well-trained lawyers."
Andy is also on the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of New York State, whose mission is to "minimize brain injury through prevention, and to support, educate and advocate for individuals with brain injuries and their families."
