Attorney Anna Kaluzny focuses her current practice on the representation of injured individuals with personal injury and workers' compensation claims, with a specialty in litigation and court matters. Anna has successfully argued several motions before judges in the Circuit Court of Champaign County as well as the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission. Anna is fluent in both Spanish and Russian in addition to English.
Prior to starting Kaluzny Law, Anna worked for judges in the State of Illinois Circuit Court of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois, which was the busiest state court house in the nation at the time in 2008, as well as judges in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California, which was the busiest bankruptcy court in the nation for individual bankruptcy filings at the time in 2010. The biggest reason for bankruptcy filings and state court foreclosure or eviction cases was illness or injury causing medical debt and lost wages. Accordingly, Anna decided to work as injury attorney in Illinois to try and help injured people avoid bankruptcy and foreclosure or eviction. By concentrating in liability and workers' compensation claims over the last 8 years, Anna can successfully assist those who are entitled to compensation under Illinois law to get the best settlement or award before they suffer significant debt related problems.
Anna graduated with honors, cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law. While in law school, Anna was a member of the Elder Law Review and served on the editorial board of the Elder Law Review. Anna wrote a note about the Bankruptcy Code's protections for patients at hospitals or nursing home during the medical provider's bankruptcy case, which note was published by the Elder Law Review. Anna's research discussed in the published note has been cited in court documents and court opinions around the nation as well as others publications on the topic of protecting patients. Anna also competed on the law school's National Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition team after winning best brief in the law school competition. In addition, Anna worked as a research assistant during law school for Professor Charles Tabb, one of the nation's leading authorities on bankruptcy law, on his second edition of his treatise entitled Law of Bankruptcy, with Anna editing two chapters in the publication.
