      Biography

Brad L. Badgley joined C. E. Heiligenstein, P.C. as an associate in 1978, upon graduation from John Marshall Law School. The firm had, and continues to have, a strong association with organized labor. Mr. Badgley presently is counsel for the Southern Illinois Labor Trades Council, which represents the Belleville and East St. Louis locals. Although the firm has always had an active worker's compensation practice, under Mr. Badgley, that practice has expanded to cover a significant portion of central and downstate Illinois. He has settled and/or tried hundreds of cases involving all aspects of work-related injuries. His practice also encompasses civil actions throughout the same geographic areas.

Mr. Badgley is well known for his representation of personal injury, worker's compensation and wrongful death claims, and respected for the prompt and ethical resolution of his cases by either settlement or trial. He is listed in Martindale Hubbell, a Bar Registry for Pre-Eminent Lawyers, and serves on the Product Liability Committee of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association.

Mr. Badgley recently settled a wrongful death case in Gallatin County, IL (pop 5,500). This was the largest wrongful death settlement in the history of the county. Mr. Badgley tried or settled several recent cases with substantial results. Although he has also been part of larger verdicts or settlements, each case is noteworthy because the named defendants vigorously denied liability and made either no offer or substantially smaller offers prior to trial. Mr. Badgley's aggressive pursuit of these cases earned his clients the financial awards to which they were entitled.
