Caryn Lee Brzykcy received her undergraduate degree (B.S.) from the University of California at Davis in Biological Sciences in 1986 and her graduate degree (J.D.) from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1993. Ms Brzykcy is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, Alexander County Bar, North Carolina Advocates for Justice, the State Bar of California (inactive) and an alum of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity. Since 2005, Caryn has been the town attorney for the Town of Taylorsville. In addition, Caryn is also the school board attorney for the Alexander County Board of Education. She is the first woman to serve in either legal capacity.
In her community, Ms. Brzykcy has served on the following Boards of Directors: Alexander County Partnership for Children (2000-2005); Alexander County Hospice (2000-2004); Domestic Violence Resource Center (2000-2002); Alexander Department of Social Services (2007-2010); and Juvenile Crime Prevention Committee (2000-2005). She has also served on the Alexander County Schools Health Advisory Council and Commissioners' Task Force.
From 2008 to 2020, Caryn served as an elected member of the Alexander County Board of Education and was the first woman elected to serve as its chair.
