Catia is a member of the Financial Industry Group, practicing in the area of Investment Management and assisting with projects involving the use of derivatives and other sophisticated financial instruments. Catia negotiates and maintains various service provider contracts, including broker-dealer agreements, recordkeeping and service agreements, fund participation agreements, repurchase agreements and forward transaction agreements.
Catia has extensive experience as both an in-house and private practice attorney in all areas of corporate transactions, corporate real estate and class action litigation. As an associate at a large New York law firm, she handled general corporate law, commercial transactions, mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, private equity (including fund formation), regulatory compliance, and securities filings. As an attorney at a large securities class action law firm, Catia worked on a case that led to one of the largest class-action settlements ever by a single company. Additionally, Catia has experience with cross-border transactions, specifically with a focus on Latin America, and has conducted corporate governance, compliance monitoring, and management of operational risk. Catia is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
As a member of the ABCNY, she researched and drafted questions posed by ABCNY at U.S. Senate Confirmation Hearing of U.S. Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales in 2005.
