      Biography

Attorney Chris Guinn is a shareholder at Simmons Hanly Conroy. He dedicates his practice to representing victims of mesothelioma and asbestos-related diseases and since joining the firm in 2004, has recovered millions of dollars on their behalf.

As a shareholder, Chris helps outline a custom legal strategy for the firm’s asbestos clients. A veteran of over 300 cases, he has spent years traveling around the country to meet with individuals diagnosed with an asbestos-related disease and their families. He has a successful track record prosecuting the corporations who harmed them.

“It’s truly a David versus Goliath situation,” Chris said. “They’re fighting to hold multi-national corporations accountable and secure compensation. I consider it a privilege to represent them.”

Educating the Work ForceChris grew up in a strong union family. Both his mother and father were members of St. Louis area unions. As a result, he understands firsthand the increased risk union members face from asbestos exposure.

“A lot of my clients are union members,” he said. “My background allows me to relate to the issues they face and the importance of providing for their families, especially if they have been diagnosed with mesothelioma as a result of occupational exposure.”

Helping union members understand their increased risk of asbestos exposure is important to Chris. He regularly presents about the dangers of asbestos exposure to union workers, current employees and retirees. He has spoken on asbestos safety at the St. Louis Building and Construction Trades Council, during St. Louis Labor Council meetings and more. His goal during the presentations is to educate the work force.

“My goal is to educate everyday workers about the dangers of asbestos,” Chris said. “Preventing future exposures is key, and for those diagnosed with an asbestos-related disease, they need to know that help is available.”

Background and ExperienceBefore joining the firm, Chris worked as an assistant prosecuting attorney for St. Louis County, where he oversaw misdemeanor dockets and earned courtroom experience.

From 1995 to 1999, Chris served in the U. S. Air Force, where he worked as a Spanish linguist, stationed at multiple military bases including ones in Puerto Rico and Panama.

After the Air Force, Chris attended Saint Louis University School of Law, graduating in 2002. He earned his undergraduate degree in criminal justice from Park University in Parkville, MO. Chris believes becoming a trial attorney was the right career choice for him because of the people he can help.
