DAVID GRUBB is a 1979 graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law. He received his undergraduate degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1972 and attended New York University. David also studied graduate economics at the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics. David is a former State Senator and former member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, where he represented Kanawha County for a combined total of eight years. Prior to his legislative career, David worked for consumer advocate Ralph Nader in Washington, D.C., and served as the Deputy Attorney General in charge of West Virginia's consumer protection office. He also founded and served as the Executive Director of the Mountain State's largest consumer and public interest organization: the West Virginia-Citizen Action Group. In 1983, David was recognized as the "National Consumer Advocate of the Year" by the Conference of Consumer Organizations. The West Virginia Trial Lawyers Association also named him twice as West Virginia's Outstanding Legislator of the Year. In addition, David received the Public Service Achievement Award from Common Cause of West Virginia, the Mother Jones Award from the West Virginia Environmental Council, and the Environmental Initiative Award from Sierra Club. David is married to Katherine Dallman Grubb. They live in Charleston with their five daughters: Katherine, Jessica, Emma, Hannah and Ellie.
