David T Roche

David Roche has been practicing as a criminal defense and civil litigation trial attorney in the courts of New York City and surrounding counties for the past twenty plus years. He began his legal career in 1996 as an Assistant District Attorney in the Kings County District Attorney’s office where he swiftly rose to the level of senior trial attorney handling some of the most serious felony cases in Brooklyn including homicides, kidnappings, violent assaults, larcenies and narcotics and gun prosecutions.

After leaving the District Attorney’s office in 2002, Mr. Roche took the trial skills and litigation knowledge he had learned and brought them to the world of civil practice. For the next four years he worked as a civil litigator specializing in Medical Malpractice and insurance law for two leading Manhattan law firms.

In 2006, Mr. Roche opened his own law practice specializing in criminal defense and civil litigation. In the years since, he has been successfully defending clients charged with all types and levels of criminal offenses. His record of success includes winning acquittals at trial on charges including Murder, Manslaughter, Rape, Domestic Assault, Burglary, Grand Larceny, Firearms Possession, Sexual Misconduct, and Driving While Intoxicated as well as aggressively negotiating favorable plea deals for clients who decide for various reasons not to take their case to trial. He has also, on several occasions, persuaded prosecutors to dismiss charges where a defense investigation has uncovered facts that had not been discovered or provided by the police.

Mr. Roche’s civil practice focuses largely on civil rights violations committed by police and corrections officers. He prosecutes claims of false arrest, malicious prosecution and excessive force in both state and federal courts and has consistently achieved excellent results for his clients
