      Biography

In 1973, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, cum laude, at Tulane University where I was also Phi Beta Kappa. I received my law degree from the University of Houston in 1976 with honors.

After graduation from law school, I served as an Assistant District Attorney in Jefferson County for one year. I became a Special Agent in the F.B.I. and I was assigned to the field office in Mobile, Alabama. I also served as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County. Although my time in Beaumont and Houston as a prosecutor was not long, I did engage in over 80 jury trials. I joined a civil defense firm in El Paso, Texas at the end of 1979. From 1983 until 1987, I was a partner in that firm. Since 1987, I have practiced on the Plaintiff's side of the docket. Those efforts have covered Central and West Texas and Southern New Mexico. On May 1, 2015, I joined Kennard Richard, P.C. where those efforts continued until August 1, 2018

I am Board Certified in Personal Injury and Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and I have held both specializations for the past 35 years. I am an "AV" ratedTM lawyer in the Martindale-Hubbell legal directory and I hold the rank of Advocate in the American Board of Trial Advocates. My peers have honored me by designation as a Texas Super LawyerTM for 10 years. In 2012, I was honored by selection in the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Texas.

I was licensed as a member of the State Bar of Texas in 1976 and as a member of the State Bar of New Mexico in 1986. I am a member of the Bar Association of El Paso and San Antonio. I have practiced law in the state courts of Texas and New Mexico, in the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern and Western Districts of Texas, the United States District Court of New Mexico, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
