Edward C. Cody

Mr. Cody was born and educated in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating from St. Louis University School of Law in 1956 and being admitted that same year to the Bar in the State of Missouri. From October of 1956 to September of 1959, Mr. Cody served as a Staff Judge Advocate with the rank of First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.

Following his military service, Mr. Cody was a Staff Attorney on the corporate legal staff of Union Electric Company from 1959 to 1960. He then served as Assistant General Counsel for the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority of the City of St. Louis and the St. Louis Housing Authority from 1960 to 1964.

After entering the private practice of law, Mr. Cody served as Outside Counsel to the St. Louis Housing Authority and as Counsel for the City of St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners. For fourteen years Mr. Cody also served as the Prosecuting Attorney in the City of Des Peres, Missouri, a part-time position he held while fully engaged in the private practice of law.

Mr. Cody has been certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Civil Trial Advocate and has been a longtime member of the Lawyer’s Association of St. Louis, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and the Missouri Bar Association. He is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Membership in this organization is limited to trial lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional skill, experience and excellence in advocacy by achieving a trial verdict, award or settlement in the amount of One Million Dollars or more.

Mr. Cody is licensed to practice before all Courts in the State of Missouri, the United States District Court, the United States Tax Court, the United States Court of Appeals, the United States Court of Military Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
