Elizabeth Chavez grew up in Chicago's western suburbs and joined Foote, Mielke, Chavez & O'Neil, LLC in 2016. Ms. Chavez counsels and represents employees in a variety of employment litigation matters including discrimination (based on age, disability, gender, national origin, race, religion and sexual orientation), sexual harassment, Family Medical Leave Act and retaliation claims. Ms. Chavez has experience representing employees in front of administrative agencies (the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Illinois Department of Human Rights and the Illinois Department of Labor) and state and federal courts. The services offered by Ms. Chavez range from the review of a severance package, to representation at an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission mediation, to legal representation in federal court.
Ms. Chavez became a certified mediator through the Center for Conflict Resolution in Chicago in 2014, and has extensive experience in mediating a variety of claims. While pursuing her passion for mediation and alternative dispute resolution, Ms. Chavez founded the International Dispute Resolution & Leadership Counsel in 2015, which is a group of international law students and attorneys that aim to promote alternative dispute resolution and encourage youth around the world to develop leadership skills to build a better future.
Ms. Chavez is a member of the Kane County Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. She is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois.
