Whether the client has suffered as a result of negligence, wrongful death, a car accident, fall, medical malpractice, product liability or other personal injury, Attorney Garofano fights hard and fair to ensure his clients are justly compensated for the physical and emotional damages they have experienced. Attorney Garofano is also a proven advocate on behalf of injured employees, ensuring workers' compensation insurance companies pay all benefits due to the injured worker. He represents workers in both state workers' compensation claims as well as federal longshore workers' compensation claims.
A diverse range of business clients rely on Attorney Garofano's expertise for a wide array of commercial matters, including breach of contract, tortious interference, misrepresentation, partnership disputes and related business torts. Attorney Garofano has both pursued and defended claims brought under a host of consumer protection statutes, including Connecticut's Unfair Trade Practices Act (CUTPA).
Regarding real property and environmental law, Attorney Garofano is counsel to matters ranging from adverse possession cases including boundary disputes, to environmental contamination cases requiring multi-year abatement and remediation projects. He handles zoning applications and appeals and litigation arising from covenants, easements, and property transfers, and land use matters including variances, subdivisions, and siting of telecommunication towers. He has also represented homeowners in actions against general contractors, subcontractors and insurance companies under Connecticut's Home Improvement Act. These claims include matters in which the contractor has walked off the job or failed to perform under the contract. Once clients receive a judgment in Home Improvement Act cases, Attorney Garofano helps his clients collect the on judgments through the Home Improvement Act fund.
Attorney Garofano earned a bachelor's degree cum laude from Union College and his law degree summa cum laude from Albany Law School.
