      Biography

Mr. Greenblatt spent the first 10 years of his career (from 1989 to 1999) as an insurance defense attorney defending insurance companies and their insureds. This gave him a unique insight into the litigation process and the way that insurers evaluate and adjust injury claims. Mr. Greenblatt specialized in first party (uninsured motorist) claims, premises liability defense and investigation of suspected fraudulent claims for insurance company special investigation units.

Since joining the firm in 1999, Mr. Greenblatt has achieved (many with his partner Mr. Buccola) over 12 $1-million-plus results for his clients.

In 2011, Mr. Greenblatt resolved a complex insurance coverage matter against multiple large insurance companies, for a confidential seven-figure settlement.

In Lane v. City of Sacramento, Mr. Greenblatt (along with associate Jason Sigel of the firm) was responsible for a major victory in the California Third District Court of Appeals, for the rights of injury victims bringing actions against California public entities.

In August 2010, Mr. Greenblatt (with associate Catia Saraiva of the firm) received a jury verdict of $3,652,593 in the case of Parken v. Smart-Vasquez, a rear-end collision where all liability was denied by the defendant.

Mr. Greenblatt was successful in litigation against a major homeowner's insurer for a wrongful death that occurred as the result of an unlicensed "chiropractor" performing adjustments in his garage.

In a federal court action, Mr. Greenblatt prevailed against a major life insurer for misrepresentation of policy terms in the manner the policy was telemarketed to Spanish-speaking consumers.

In January 2011, Mr. Greenblatt was inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates, (ABOTA). Formed in 1957 to promote trial advocacy skills and professional civility, ABOTA is the premier trial attorney organization, with its membership comprised of both plaintiff and defense attorneys. Less than 1 percent of all practicing attorneys in the country are admitted as ABOTA members.

Mr. Greenblatt is also certified in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, only one of approximately 150 such attorneys earning this distinction in California.

Additionally, Mr. Greenblatt is AV Preemenint peer-review rated,* the highest rating, through Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Greenblatt serves as a judge pro tem for Sacramento, Placer and El Dorado counties.

In 2008, he also completed the ABOTA-ABA National Trial Academy Program, held at the National Judicial College at University of Nevada, Reno.

Hank was extremely helpful with obtaining a settlement for me. He took my worries away when he fought for my rights with the insurance company and lawyers. He listened to my concerns and reassured me. This was a difficult time for me, not only was he my lawyer but I consider him a friend. I appreciate everything Hank and his outstanding group have done for me.
