Helen E. Tokar is an attorney at the Los Angeles office of Wisner Baum (formerly Baum Hedlund Aristei & Goldman) where she primarily focuses her practice on Zantac (ranitidine) cancer litigation. She also represents clients in personal injury and wrongful death cases involving pharmaceutical drug product liability and toxic baby food, as well as in consumer fraud and multidistrict litigation.
With nearly a decade of experience in a variety of practice areas, Helen quickly became an asset to Wisner Baum's attorney team. She had already managed a substantial caseload of personal injury cases and litigated numerous criminal defense and landlord-tenant cases. From writing demands to conducting discovery and depositions, to preparing clients for deposition and trial, and even commanding mediations and settlement negotiations, Helen does do it all. What's more, she is no stranger to making court appearances-for example, she has regularly advocated for her clients in court and has successfully served as second-chair in a personal injury jury trial. After earning her bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Southern California, Helen attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law. She spent many nights burning the midnight oil, and her passion for helping others compelled her to take on a position as a pro bono Certified Student Mediator. Thus, by the time she graduated law school, she had already facilitated settlement discussions and resolved many small claims. She had also been named the CALI Award Recipient for California Evidence, as well as received the Certificates of Merit Award in California Evidence, Introduction to Mediation & Advanced Mediation.
Helen is admitted to practice law in California, the U.S. District Court, Northern and Central District of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. She is also listed in The Bar Register of Preeminent LawyersTM. Further, she is a member of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, Consumer Attorneys of California and the American Association for Justice, serving on the Section on Toxic, Environmental, and Pharmaceutical Torts.
