Hirad received his J.D. from UCLA School of Law where he studied in the law school's Corporate Law Curriculum Program (now known as the Business Law and Policy Program). While in law school, Hirad was a managing editor of UCLA Journal of International Law & Foreign Affairs. Before entering private practice, Hirad served as a federal judicial law clerk to the Honorable Robert C. Broomfield, Senior United States District Judge for the District of Arizona. After his clerkship, Hirad joined the litigation practice of the major international law firm Jones Day, where he represented defendants and plaintiffs in a wide variety of cases in state and federal court as well as before the International Centre for Dispute Resolution. Clients represented included businesses in the banking and credit reporting industries as well as media, Internet, and Fortune 500 companies. Prior to practicing law, Hirad received his B.A. with honors in Business-Economics from the University of California at Los Angeles, and became the director of operations for a developer of security software solutions.
