Mr. Blizzard is board-certified in both criminal law and criminal appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Blizzard is one of only 5 other attorneys in Taylor County board-certified in criminal law. He is among only 87 attorneys in the entire state of Texas who are board-certified in both criminal law and criminal appellate law as of the latest certification year.
Board certification is a mark of excellence in an attorney and the only designation recognized by the State Bar of Texas to entitle Jacob to represent himself as a specialist in both criminal law and criminal appellate law.
Jacob has extensive appeal, criminal defense, and appellate court experience in the Texas state and United States federal courts. He has argued his cases in oral argument before the Courts of Appeals in both Texas state and United States federal courts.
He is noted by the Seventh Administrative Judicial Region of Texas as being one of two attorneys in the region who is qualified for appointment as Lead Appellate Counsel in Texas capital cases in which the death penalty is sought.
Mr. Blizzard's practice is focused on criminal defense in Abilene, TX , west Texas, as well as federal courts in Texas. Criminal defense includes pre-trial negotiations for plea bargains and trials of felonies and misdemeanors. Mr. Blizzard also has a significant practice in criminal appeals and post-convictions writs of habeas corpus. Mr. Blizzard also practices personal injury and plaintiff's side litigation.
Mr. Blizzard graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law and is the managing partner of Blizzard & Zimmerman Attorneys.
