Attorney James Huss works as a shareholder at Simmons Hanly Conroy LLC and dedicates his practice to fighting for victims of mesothelioma and asbestos exposure.
James represents clients throughout the nation and regularly travels to meet with them wherever they live. Since starting at the firm in 2009, he has helped guide hundreds of individuals and families through the mesothelioma litigation process and has helped recover millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements on their behalf.
“People become quite emotional when they’re telling me how mesothelioma has affected their lives. Every meso client has been uniquely impacted by this terrible disease,” James said. “My clients invite me into their homes during the most intimate and vulnerable times of their lives. I take personal pride in our firm’s collective efforts to hold the responsible entities accountable for negligently exposing our clients to asbestos.”
Before joining Simmons Hanly Conroy, James served as an assistant attorney general representing the state of Missouri in financial litigation and enforcement matters in St. Louis County. James represented the Missouri Department of Social Services in domestic and Medicaid issues and oversaw workers’ compensation hearings. He also handled hearings and bench trials throughout north-central and northeastern Missouri.
James earned his law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia in personal finance. He is admitted to practice in Missouri and Illinois.
“Representing people diagnosed with mesothelioma is a humbling experience,” James said. “It is easy to get caught up in the busyness of our own lives and take your health for granted. I am continually inspired and motivated by my clients’ courage as they struggle to stay positive and be strong for their families.”
During his free time, James volunteers for charity events through the St. Charles County Boys and Girls Club.
