Jeremiah Asercion

Jeremiah graduated from Salem High School in Virginia Beach as valedictorian and was accepted into Harvard University for the following school year.

While at Harvard, Jeremiah majored in philosophy, with additional focuses in the fields of government and mathematics. He thoroughly enjoyed the rigorous, interrelated disciplines of philosophy, logic and math, and the daily practice of deconstructing complex verbal arguments into symbols and formulas. What began as an initial interest in the topics of philosophy turned into a rigorous education into the formal methods of logic and analysis, a discipline which helped Jeremiah to score in the 99.9th percentile on the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and continues to serve him well now as a practicing attorney.

During his studies at the Georgetown University Law Center where he earned his Juris Doctorate, Jeremiah focused on litigation and trial practice. He participated as a response critic in various academic symposia and placed special emphasis on extremely thorough and meticulous legal research, analysis, and writing. Jeremiah also took every opportunity to participate in oral arguments. These experiences prepared him for the research needed in complex cases as well as the fast pace of a hotly contested trial.

Following graduation, Jeremiah also had the opportunity to intern with the Virginia Beach Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. He assisted the Honorable Judge Winship Tower, then Chief Judge of the Court, in formulating legal opinions in situations that had not yet been clearly addressed by Virginia law. This internship provided him with his first glance into family law, a field he has continued to find very fulfilling as a practicing attorney, as it affords him the opportunity to advise and assist clients in their most important and personal matters.
