Joe Whitener is an accomplished trial attorney, who passionately represents each and every one of his clients.
He began his career as an intern in the City of St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office, and the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Missouri. After graduating from law school, he joined the Missouri State Public Defender's Office, where he served for over six years as an Assistant Public Defender.
He has represented hundreds of clients throughout the state in criminal cases ranging from misdemeanors to the most serious and complex felonies. He has also represented businesses, a local college, and governmental entities in a wide range of civil litigation.
He has tried over twenty cases to a jury, and consistently achieved outstanding results for his clients against overwhelming odds, including several acquittals in cases involving charges of Robbery, Assault, and Murder. He
is one of the only lawyers in Missouri to have successfully defended a client in a civil commitment jury trial.
