2014 will mark over 23 years of law practice in Kern County for Joel. Born and raised near Anamosa, Iowa, Joel graduated in 1981 from Anamosa High School and attended the University of Iowa. Majoring in Journalism and Political Science, Joel's skills and education led him to a summer internship with the U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington D.C. It was this experience that set the course for Joel's future career in law. Joel credits his upbringing on an Iowa farm, for instilling a work ethic, which has carried over into his legal career. "Each day I work as hard as I can and put forth my maximum effort to help my clients achieve success in their cases," he says. This success includes numerous federal and state court jury trial victories, as well as multi-million dollar out-of-court settlements. When Joel finds time away from the office and out of the courtroom, he enjoys being active in his children’s school and sports activities, going to the gym, and watching sporting activities on television. His most favorite being, University of Iowa sports, of course.
