John P. Marini

John P. Marini is an associate with Berchem Moses PC and serves as Corporation Counsel for the City of Ansonia. He focuses his practice on civil litigation and municipal affairs, and has experience in the fields of insurance defense, workers’ compensation and personal injury trial law.

Attorney Marini is responsible for handling the defense of all claims commenced against the City of Ansonia and provides legal counsel on matters including, but not limited to: municipal legislation; contracts; labor and employment; land use; zoning enforcement; the administration of municipal liens; interpretation of the City Charter and Code; temporary housing relocation pursuant to the Uniform Relocation Act; and responses to requests made pursuant to the State of Connecticut Freedom of Information Act. He has assisted Ansonia officials with the creation and implementation of successful anti-blight and business tax abatement programs, and works with Ansonia’s Office of Economic Development to facilitate public-private partnerships with commercial property owners. John Marini is a member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Land Bank for Brownfield Renewal, Inc., a 501(c)(3) corporation formed to further the mission of expanding brownfield redevelopment in Connecticut.

Attorney Marini has been named a “Top 40 Under 40” trial attorney by The National Trial Lawyers Association and was recognized by the Connecticut Post as one of the Bridgeport area’s top 10 newsmakers of 2013. He was also selected as one of Connecticut's Top 40 lawyers under the age of 40 in litigation by the American Society of Legal Advocates in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
