      Biography

With my grandfather, dad, and uncle all being lawyers, I have always had a deep respect for the role that law plays in society, and the good works of which lawyers are capable. The challenge of helping people through difficult situations, both personal and in business ventures is a great satisfaction. The law is ever-changing and requires life-long learning. When balanced with other interests, it is truly a wonderful life's work.

There is nothing more stimulating than preparing and trying a case to a judge or jury. It is thought provoking, competitive, and dynamic. Helping people who have been wronged obtain some relief is meaningful. Additionally, contributing to a logical plan to pass the fruits of a lifetime to those who are important and beloved, as well as helping those who are grieving the loss of a loved one to deal with the complexities of completing the administration of such a plan, carries with it responsibilities and rewards which are tangible.

In a similar vein, helping public and private business organizations thrive in a complicated society is extremely rewarding. The school corporations I represent are doing the work of the future; the electric cooperatives I serve represent a business model which combines some of the best principles of public interactions to perform a demanding and essential need of society. And so my areas of practice have evolved to include business organizations, employment, estate and personal planning, estate and trust administration, general litigation, mediation services, personal injury, school law, and My wife, Gayle, a professional educator, and I have raised two outstanding adult professionals, each of whom has chosen a career other than law. I am proud that they have found great satisfaction in their own lives and careers. Being a grandparent is simply "the best."
