      Biography

Licensed since 2007, John Arnold focuses his practice on environmental law matters. John works with the Jones, Swanson, Huddell & Garrison, LLC environmental litigation team representing various business and property owners against the industry's leading oil and gas operators. Working alongside the firm since 2008, John has handled and will continue to work with cases involving ownership disputes and property damages resulting from oil and gas exploration and production.

John has a rich background in environmental stewardship and natural resource management. While pursuing an undergraduate degree in Wildlife Science at Mississippi State University, he worked on numerous waterfowl research projects throughout the Mississippi Alluvial Valley from Canada to Louisiana. Upon obtaining his Bachelor's degree, John provided consultation to an international corporate client and continued his work related to waterfowl research. In 2005, he completed his education at Mississippi State by earning a Master's degree in Wildlife Science. His graduate studies were focused on ecology and human dimensions with his thesis pertaining to characteristics of wildlife law violators and their attitudes toward conservation officers.

John enrolled in the Mississippi College School of Law in 2004 concentrating mainly on the varied aspects of environmental law. While enrolled in law school, Mr. Arnold consulted with an engineering firm and served as an extern with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality. Between law school graduation and forming his own firm in 2013, John managed the legal division of a nationally recognized environmental consulting firm and compiled a diverse experience portfolio by working with private individuals and corporate clients and local, state, and federal governments and agencies. His experiences include litigation support related to environmental damages and restoration related to oil and gas exploration and production; however, he has also been heavily involved in litigation related to ownership of water bottoms within Louisiana. John has also evaluated the opportunities and constraints of existing and proposed restoration measures in coastal Louisiana to synthesize measures to conserve wetlands and multiple land uses. He has also assisted with contract review, project planning, and site evaluation and selection of construction for restoration.

John has been involved in several agency actions involving the United States Government, including the protested award of a contract for support services issued by the Department of the Army, Army Corps of Engineers (COE) and Galveston District. John was involved in the challenge of the agency's evaluation of proposals and decisions to award the contract. In his role, he attended agency hearings, filed appropriate protest documentation pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulations on behalf of client and responded to COE filings.
