Kate earned her J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law, where she graduated first in her class. After graduation, Kate clerked for the Honorable Jill A. Pryor of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Kate also worked for several years as an appellate attorney in the Office of the Federal Defender for the Middle District of Florida, where she obtained multiple reversals for her clients. Kate has argued appeals in the Second and Eleventh Circuits.
During law school, Kate served as an articles editor for the Georgia Law Review and was a teaching assistant for Contracts and Constitutional Law. She participated in the Criminal Defense Practicum and the Capital Assistance Project, assisting in the defense of individuals facing capital charges. Kate also interned at the popular U.S. Supreme Court news site SCOTUSblog, where she tracked notable petitions for certiorari filed in the Court.
