Kent is a partner at Pemberton Law's Fergus Falls office. Since 1993, Kent has built his practice in health care law, business/corporate and cooperative law, and banking and finance law. Kent enjoys practicing law in the rural setting of Fergus Falls within a law firm that has a quality regional and state reputation.
Kent is a native of Roseau, Minnesota, and graduated from Fergus Falls High School before receiving his Bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, with honors. He received his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1993 with honors. Kent is admitted to practice law in all Minnesota state and the federal courts and the Eight Circuit Court.
Kent represents healthcare organizations in legal matters including hospitals, physician group practices, and physicians. In his business and corporate law practice, Kent represents many local and regional clients, including banks, corporations, partnerships, individuals, entrepreneurs, and professionals in all aspects of business development and business law, including formation, operation, and succession planning, as well as purchase and sale of businesses. In his banking and finance law practice, Kent is involved with all aspects of lending law, including commercial loan documentation and work-out matters, as well as foreclosure and creditor remedies. Kent also represents a variety of clients, including national corporations, state government entities such as counties and cities, employers, banks, businesses, individuals, and insurance companies in all types of disputes in court.
Kent takes pride in giving his clients the level of personal attention they deserve and in being available when they need him. Kent's philosophy is to support clients through understanding their legal needs and helping to implement decisions and solutions to any legal need with practical, cost-effective advice. Kent has presented seminars, written journal articles, and been named a "Small Business Specialist" in the Best Lawyers Consumer Guide, a nationwide publication of lawyers nominated by their peers. Kent is also selected as a "Super Lawyer" by Minnesota Law & Politics every year.
Kent and his wife, Nancy, have four children, Brianna, Joseph, Thomas, and Elizabeth. As an avid hunter and outdoorsman, Kent enjoys the escape provided by the lakes and woods of rural Minnesota.
