Laurel Michel grew up in Salina and attended Central High School. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in English with distinction and university and departmental honors. Laurel then attended the University of Kansas School of Law and received her Juris Doctor in 2018. While in law school, Laurel was a member of The Kansas Journal of Law and Public Policy and served as a staff editor and articles editor during her time on the Journal. During law school, Laurel also clerked for the Kennedy Berkley Yarnevich & Williamson and McInnes law firms, interned with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Washington, D.C., participated in the Legal Aid Clinic, moot court, and mock trial, and was a research assistant for the Wheat Law Library.Laurel joined Kennedy Berkley Yarnevich & Williamson, Chtd. as an Associate Attorney in August of 2018 and works in the Salina office. Outside of work, Laurel is involved in the Kansas and Saline County Women Attorneys Associations, is on the Public Policy and Gender Committee of the Kansas Women Attorneys Association, is a member of AMBUCS, is a member of Salina Area Young Professionals, she volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salina and for the Trinity United Methodist Church youth group.
