Lucas' practice focuses on Estate Planning, U.S. and multinational Trust and Estate Administration, and transfer planning for family-owned and small businesses.
Lucas carefully focuses on his clients' specific goals and concerns in Estate Planning and Administration matters in order to design documents fitting to individual needs with an emphasis on practical usefulness and understandability.
Lucas addresses his clients' specific circumstances in planning for trustees and children's guardians, coordinating trust administration of 401{k), IRA, and non-qualified assets, and transferring administration to successor trustees. Lucas' approach to Estate Planning and Administration has helped to develop a popular community workshop on practical estate planning.
Lucas guides his clients on transfers of LLC, partnership, and family corporation interests; in preserving Medicaid eligibility and providing for an eligible beneficiary's additional needs; as well as charitable giving and estate tax planning. Lucas also counsels estate and trust administrators on multinational assets, beneficiaries and generational business transfers.
Lucas is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law {2008) and Bowdoin College {2001). He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 2008 and the New Hampshire Bar in 2016. Prior to joining Ransmeier & Spellman, Lucas was a trusts & estates associate at a midsize Boston law firm and had a trusts & estates solo practice in Charlestown, Massachusetts.
