MacKenzie Hertz

MacKenzie is an attorney in our Fargo office practicing civil and criminal litigation.

MacKenzie graduated magna cum laude from the University of Jamestown in 2015 with a degree in political science and a minor in history. She went on to graduate with High Distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2018, completing the Litigation Skills Program as her concentrated area of study. During law school, MacKenzie served as the Executive Editor for the Nebraska Law Review, competed nationally for the National Moot Court Team, and worked as a Student Attorney handling misdemeanors and low-grade felony cases in the Criminal Clinic. She was elected to the Order of the Coif and the Order of the Barristers in recognition of her achievements during law school.

Before joining the firm, MacKenzie served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Ralph R. Erickson for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the Honorable Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. for the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska. She also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable John M. Gerrard for the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska. As a clerk, MacKenzie worked on a wide array of civil and criminal matters at the trial and appellate levels. Today, MacKenzie uses her unique insight into federal courts to serve her clients.

MacKenzie is originally from Mott, North Dakota, where her family farms. MacKenzie loves basketball, and her favorite "holiday" is March Madness. She enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family, friends, and her husband, Ryan.
