Mark M. Mehalov grew up in Smock, PA and attended primary and secondary school in the Uniontown Area School District. During high school, Mark was a two sport athlete in football and baseball. After high school, Mark attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Mark then went on to attend and graduate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
During law school, Mark worked as a law clerk at the former Uniontown law firm of Coldren Adams where he was offered a job as an Associate after graduating from law school.
Mark joined Chuck Zebley to form Zebley Mehalov on July 1,2001. The firm later became Zebley Mehalov & White when Dan White joined the firm in December 2003.
Mark has also served as an Assistant District Attorney in Fayette County where he was responsible for prosecuting cases involving physical and sexual abuse of children. During his tenure, Mark prosecuted and tried many complex and serious cases including cases involving the death penalty. He also has served as Conflicts Counsel for Fayette County which involved court appointments of criminal defendants who could not be represented by the Public Defender's office. Mark also maintained a private criminal defense practice during this time. This experience has allowed Mark to better hone his trial skills having both experience prosecuting and defending cases. As both a prosecutor and defense attorney, Mark has tried well over 200 cases before juries. During his career, Mark has participated in the prosecution or defense of 3 death penalty cases (Defense- Commonwealth v. Belch— where the jury found the defendant guilty of only 3rd degree Murder/ Commonwealth v. Nora- where Mark was able to secure a unanimous life sentence from the jury as penalty phase counsel/Prosecution- Commonwealth v. Haney— where Mark secured a 1st degree Murder conviction and a death sentence against the defendant who killed a 4 year old child). He has tried many more homicides, assaults, drug and sex cases on both sides of the table. It is easy to say that Mark knows his way around a courtroom and is not afraid to try a case before a judge or jury.
During his career, Mark hag also focused on helping those who have become disabled and are unable to work because of their disability. Mark has handled hundreds of cases at the hearing level for people who have been denied disability benefits and is extremely familiar with the practices and procedures involved in the appeal process to efficiently and effectively seek a positive result for an individual denied disability benefits.
Although Mark focuses his practice on criminal defense and Social Security matters, he also handles the firm's personal injury, zoning and family law matters.
Mark is born and raised in the Uniontown area. He is the son of Andrew and Barbara Mehalov, Mark and his wife, Eva, reside in Fairchance with their children, Claire and Evan.
