Mark S. Polin, M.D., J.D., joined Kline & Specter in 2010 as one of the firm’s growing group of doctor/lawyers.
Dr. Polin is an obstetrician/gynecologist and was in private practice in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre region for nearly 20 years. He has delivered more than 2,000 babies and specialized in infertility and the performance of advanced laparoscopic and vaginal procedures.
Precluded from performing surgery by an injury to his hand, Dr. Polin retired from medicine in 2007 and turned his attention to the study of law, attending the Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law, where he graduated cum laude and achieved membership in the Woolsack Honor Society. Dr. Polin was president of Dickinson’s Trial Moot Court Board and received recognition for finishing first in his class in Legal Research and Writing and Federal Income Taxation. He also attained the “Student Health Law Award” from the American Bar Association and the Bureau of National Affairs.
Dr. Polin previously worked as an intern for the Foley Law Firm in Scranton and at Kline & Specter, where he conducted research and assisted attorneys with medical expertise in successful medical malpractice cases.
Dr. Polin earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he earned membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society for finishing in the top 10 percent of his class. He did his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine with Drs. Howard and Georgianna Jones, leading pioneers in gynecologic surgery and in-vitro fertilization.
Dr. Polin earned his undergraduate degree from the Pennsylvania State University with high distinction honors and was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the honorary business Society. He also attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia as a non-degree graduate student before entering medical school.
Among his personal interests, Dr. Polin umpires high school and legion baseball and has run numerous marathons, including 10 Marine Corps Marathons in Washington, D.C., and one Boston Marathon.
