Martin A. Ramey was born and raised in a small town in northern Georgia.After attending college, he began working as a public relations and marketing specialist for a leading, international public accounting and consulting firm in Atlanta.Martin then went on to work for several local, regional and national non-profit organizations in the field of communications, where he assisted in efforts to pass a national Good Samaritan Law, under former Secretary of Agriculture, Dan Glickman.The legislation was designed to assist non-profit, community feeding programs in collecting excess food from restaurants and caterers throughout the United States without worrying about liability from such donations.A graduate of Arizona State University with a degree in Spanish, Martin received his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2002.While at USD, Martin served as the Executive Comments Editor/Symposium Coordinator for the San Diego Law Review.He is the author of Putting the Cart Before the Horse:The Need to Re-Examine MICRA Caps in California's Elder Abuse Act, 39 San Diego L. Rev. 599 and Treating Symptoms, Not Problems, San Diego Union Tribune, Feb. 7, 2003.He is a member of the North Carolina and California bars and is also licensed to practice in the Southern District of California, the Central District of California, the Southern District of Indiana and the Eastern District of North Carolina.He actively supports the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, serving on the organization's Legal Affairs and Legislative committees, and is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Consumer Attorneys of California, and the North Carolina Bar Association.
