Maryjane Cooper is a criminal defense trial attorney in Florida. She holds a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Florida A&M University, School of Law, and a Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience from Temple University, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Prior to her legal education, Ms. Cooper was a teacher in both Osceola and Orange County School Districts.
Ms. Cooper left education to pursue a legal career. In law school, Ms. Cooper was President of the Student Chapter of American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and simulateously served as President of the Central Florida Chapter for American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), as well.
She has championed for justice in equality for LGBT people, privacy protections againsst government surveillance, ending mass incarceration, and preserving the right to vote or the right to have an abortion.
During her legal education she was awarded three distinct awards by Florida A&M University for her outstanding achievements. She was the Col. Bernard D. Hendricks "Top Rattler" Award Recipient in three areas; Top Law Student, Organizational President of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year.
The Florida Bar City, County, and Local Government Division awarded her with the Outstanding Philanthropy and Service to the Law School and Community Award.
